An average experience. I'm not likely to return, at least not for another meal. Maybe for coffee one day. There are things that I really like about Palmano's. The courtyard seating is pretty nice, and they're dog friendly, which I always appreciate. The sandwich I ordered was beef, cheese, and horseradish, and was very good. Less than perfect aspects? Someone had spilled their coffee all over the table and ground prior to our arrival. When the waiter arrived, he said he would clean up the coffee on the table, and then placed my menu right on top of the puddle. Not just an edge -- the menu was dripping when I picked it up. No big deal on its own I guess, a minor annoyance. Drinks took a long time to arrive. My friend's sandwich was not the one he ordered, although since he liked what he got, he didn't bother to alert the waiter to the error. The sandwich I had was good, but the accompanying side salad was less than impressive - two slices of tomato with four or five leaves of spinach topped with Italian dressing. All in all, not a bad restaurant if you're looking to spend $9 on a *small* lunch. It didn't fill me with much of a desire to return, though.

The employees and owner are rude and disgusting. The food was below average. Not a friendly place and embarrassing to guests that were visiting from out of town. They have a sign "life is too short to drink Starbucks" but I'd recommend going across the street to Starbucks instead.

We stopped in for an impromptu lunch and really enjoyed it. Quality was great, staff was excellent. The owner (?) gave our children a chocolate chip cookie after our meal and was very hospitable.

Going to palmano's was always such a treat since their coffee is so good! I drove from Windermere to enjoy breakfast and coffee with a friend since it was "small business weekend." We ordered 2 low fat yogurts with mixed berries. Our yogurt finally came 25 minutes later only to find a Chobani with a side of fermented fruit with mold on it. I spent $5.99 on that chobani with molded fruit on the side! The only reason I gave 2 stars is because their coffee is good. Unfortunately, they didn't offer our money back for the breakfast we couldn't even eat.

I have been coming here for years and loved the food and coffee. For those of you that don't know they sold the restaurant a couple months ago and it has gone downhill. They have completely changed the menu and it is awful now. I mean they fu?@&#! serve hamburgers here now. 1. Who serves hamburgers at a coffee shop and 2. If I want a hamburger I will go down the street to BurgerFi. Service sucks, menu sucks, food sucks, new owners suck.

Nice place to stop for a bite or a drink. The folks here are very friendly. They have a wide variety of food and beverage items.

Such a nice place with nice owners and a nice staff. I guess I'd have to say this place is...nice :/ They roast their own coffee beans and it's pretty good (I wish it was a bit stronger) But the atmosphere is why we go here. There's a beautiful courtyard where you can sit and laze the day away. A small interior with a few table, or a few table smack on Park Ave. Prime people watching spot. They food is pretty good, especially the breakfast wraps. Go there a few times and the staff will recognize you. Not the easiest thing to find here in Orlando. The best is Friday nights when they have dinner and the owner gets tipsy on wine and has fun conversations with everyone.

Palmano's is like fresh breeze in the stale dining wasteland that is Park Avenue. The desserts are amazing, the coffee is great, and superb service.

Cute coffee shop with delicious pastries. The location is on a busy little street with great shops and boutiques. There's an outdoor area to sit as well but with the sporadic rain in Florida I opted to sit inside. Great customer service!

Three of us had lunch here - Twice! Panini's were delicious on homemade breads. Soups, salads, and the white bean salad and pasta salads (came with sandwich) were great as well. Simple but nice wine list (about 25 wines) Gave us a generous taste of the wine on special. Service is friendly and efficient. Nice outdoor seating on Park Avenue, but the locals take advantage of the quiet courtyard.

Another visit and another good experience. This time it was lunch. After long revue of menu, we both settled on pizza - and we were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. Wife had simple pizza with lots of FRESH basil Nd she said it was really great. Mine was with artichokes, mushrooms etc and also VERY tasty. Highly recommended. Next time - sandwiches - they liked delicious. We were informed that they will once again serve dinner on Fri evening only - starting April 24. ONLY REAL negative - and it is big for us - next door is a CIGAR store and the smokers sit outside puffing on cigars. This affects outdoor eating - front AND back. A VERY BIG turnoff for me. That is why we always eat inside where seating is quite limited.

Ok, I can't say enough good things about this family owned business. Their customer service is out of this world. Every time I walk in, the staff greets me like a long-time no-see relative from overseas. I've established an outstanding relationship with them and they will go above and beyond your expectations when you visit. * During the Winter Park Art festival I spent all day Saturday and Sunday sitting outside their cafe, enjoying delicacies and live music from the cigar shop (Cigarz on the Ave). I was by myself each visit and on Saturday I order their charcuterie platter which came with an assortment of cheese, cured meats, crips and a full bottle of wine for only $25. It was splendid! They were extremely busy because of the festival but every time my glass was empty, they filled it up promptly and made sure I was doing okay. On Sunday they had a special: a pressed sandwich, soup, salad and dessert for $10. The sandwich was amazing (ham and swiss melted between a baguette) and the beef soup was to die for. I accompanied my meal with a nice mimosa and a croissant afterwards. (Tip: the menu is French inspired despite the Italian name Palmano's). It was very relaxing and enjoyable being able to sit outside and enjoy everything that was going on. It is very reminiscent of European cafes and that's what I love. If I could, I would be here everyday. * A little background: the owners, Catherine and Pierre Delrieu have been in the restaurant business for over 30yrs in France and lost their last restaurant due to a fire so they decided to come to Florida and start over. They have been the new owners of Palmano's since November and they're taking off on a great start by the looks of things. Pierre is very friendly but speaks little English (he is currently studying the language) so just be patient if he is ringing you up.

I'll never understand why the Starbucks across the street often has a line out the door, while Palmano's is delightfully tranquil... Not that I'm complaining. I love coming here to read or write in the courtyard, and most importantly, the coffee is exquisite. The cigar bar next door gives the air a pleasant smell, too. If you can stomach real coffee, as opposed to an toasted-saccharine-orange-pancake-Frappuccino, I encourage you to try this place.

stopped in today for coffee and something to eat; was pleasantly surprized. I got the lunch special, soup, salad, quiche for $9.50?ish, and mom got coffee and very large piece of strudel. All homemade on premises and very, very good!! Mine was a small portion but delish! (and perfect amount I thought for lunch) portion for price was fine I thought. mom and I Loved the coffee (and I am a snob about that, so is mom). We sat in the back because I didn't like the cigar smoke drifting over to the tables on the street side.....too bad for the owners that is a negative. My only suggestion would be to warm and crust up that strudel before serving (and suggest a good vanilla ice cream on top $$) BUT I READ THAT THESE ARE NEW OWNERS SO PLEASE GIVE THEM A SHOT!!!. I will be back!

Pricy? Perhaps, but i feel that I'm getting what I paid for here. Delicious coffee (consistent with many reviews), superb breakfast sandwich, nicely presented, excellent ambience and very friendly and courteous service. I've been coming here for years and expect to continue doing so whenever I'm in town. In fact, where I do agree with some of the criticisms regarding the "stuffy" nature of the service on some occasions in the last couple of years, Pierre, the new owner, brings altogether a new level of friendliness to the business while his wife clearly brings with her some formidable culinary skills. Yes, I'll be back!

The newfangled and improved Chez Palmano's. I work on Park Ave and have been going to Palmano's every weekday morning for coffee, and a couple times a week for breakfast or lunch, for 10 years. Palmano's has always had the best coffee on Park Ave, their breakfast sandwiches have always been very good, most of their lunches were good, and the service from prior owner Rich was prompt if a bit cranky. The negatives were, the morning baked goods, muffins, pastries etc were terrible (I think Rich once had a quiche that sat in the display case for over 5 years, and a coworker of mine once broke his tooth on a biscoti, though in fairness I think MM may just have weak teeth), and they made some questionable service decisions such as a "no laptops" sign and a weird host at lunchtime who would literally try to box you out from walking directly to the counter, trying to force you to a table instead. As you may have heard, Palmano's recently underwent an ownership change. As a loyal customer, I have to admit I was highly skeptical that this could be pulled off without ruining the coffee or the food - I was envisioning another Brandywine's fiasco. After about 6 months under new ownership I am surprised to say that overall Palmano's is VASTLY improved. What was already good about Palmano's, the coffee and some of the food like the breakfast sandwiches, is still just as good. The pastries and baked goods have gone from stale crap to now really legitimately good! The service is better and more friendly, the no laptops sign and the annoying host are gone. And overall the place just feels cleaner and better managed. All the new owners have left to do is reinstate Rich's longstanding ban of Andy Fox and newfangled Chez Palmano's would be perfect! 5 stars for the best coffee on park ave and the black swan event of a restaurant ownership change that went right.

I will be honest with you and make you aware that I work right next to palmano's, so my opinion is a bit biased. I used to be a starbucks fanatic but after traveling to portland I came back searching for a new coffee experience. I was able to find it right next door in palmanos. The place has lots of charm: park avenue front seating, indoor seating, and seating piazza on the back. Richard and Teresa are great owners. Even when I first started going there, they and their staff always greeted me the moment I walked thru the doors. Their coffees are great. They have lots of variety but they usually brew teresa's and park avenue blend. However, you can ask them to brew a specific type if you want (their blends are in front of the house). Food is were I see their biggest flaw. They are a bit expensive and their portion sizes could be better. I have had their scrambled eggs, omelette, and the egg sandwich. The flavors are there but is just a bit expensive for the size of the portion. Overall is a great place to grab a cup of coffee, maybe some breakfast, and just enjoy downtown winter park.

As this is one if the few coffee places on Park which is open on Sundays I happened into this place. The coffee is adequate. The only other thing I ordered was a croissant, which was dry, cold, and served in a plastic basket. The seating outside in both the front and back is nice. The back was quieter.

Thought we'd give this cute little place a try for a breakfast meeting. Brought our laptops out knowing they advertised free wi-fi, ordered $30 in coffee and food, only to have the server rudely deliver a 'no laptop sign' to us halfway through our meal. He was abrupt and unwelcoming, and made us feel as if we were not welcome. We could not leave fast enough because we were so uncomfortable. Will never waste our time or money here again. Just go to Starbucks right across the street!

This is a great little place located a few doors down from Pottery Barn, next to the Cigar place. If you've been on Park Ave, you now know where it is, in case you've walked passed it without noticing this cute little place. Their cafe storefront on Park ave leads to a great open courtyard in the back, so plan on stopping in for a coffee, espresso drink or light bite. The staff greats you like a regular and greets their regulars like family, all very welcoming. The espresso drinks are top notch, the beans are freshly roasted and ground. For those "non coffee people" try a Chai or a Hot Chocolate. I picked up a hot chocolate for a friend- they steam the milk and use nice chocolate syrup and top with whipped cream, my friend raved about her treat. I've picked up the Egg and Cheese breakfast sandwich, which is HUGE. It comes with meat, but I sub more tomato and cheese. Delish! There are two fried eggs on HUGE freshly grilled sour dough bread. You get a big panini sized sandwich. Enough to share, which I have. They have nice "grab and go" mini baguettes stuffed with provolone, hard salami and another type of meat, I'm always sure to grab one for my hubby who raves about them. I posted a pic for an upcoming wine dinner, so check it out. (Crusher wines)

I truly enjoy coming here. It is like a big family. I would much rather support a local business than a corporate business like Starbucks. Their coffee is locally roasted and everything on their menu is made IN HOUSE. they also have a HUGE pastry case full of fresh goodies. Friday nights they have dinner and that's the only night bc they go ALL OUT. True Italian specials that are to die for!!

Such a cute little space. Everyone is correct, if you walk by and don't know it's there, you may miss it. It has a lovely outdoor setting in the front and in the back and the inside is just as welcoming. The one thing they do ask, which is quite challenging when you are trying to work, they would allow you to be outside if you are going to be on your computer. You can imagine charging without an outlet is a bit difficult. The service is outstanding. You are greeted immediately upon your entrance and you can tell who the regulars are because the staff treats them like family. The vanilla latte is delicious and there are tabs with positive sayings placed on top of your drink which I think is a lovely touch. I have not eaten here yet but I stop in all the time so I will have to grab a sandwich here soon. This is a great location to have a meeting, catch up with friends or just relax. I love this stop along Park Ave!

Haven't eaten anything here but the drinks are very good. Very friendly staff and owners. The owner actually let us film part of our short film inside their store and out front, free of charge. It's located in a great area in downtown Winter Park. Have outdoor seating out front, as well as a decent sized patio out back. Great atmosphere!

Nice small space with pleasant atmosphere. Probably very good for coffee, or glass of wine. You can sit inside or outside. They have a few tables on the sidewalk, and there is a courtyard in the back which has privacy. They are next to a cigar store, so if you are outside you will probably smell cigar smoke. Also, the staff is very friendly. They are in an expensive area, so expect prices to conform. We ordered two panini sandwiches which tasted good, but not much sandwich. Plus the side they give you is miniscule. Left hungry and $20 lighter.

If you want the local blend experience this beyond solid coffee house offers -- make sure to request to have the Park Avenue blend. A personal favorite of mine (I go through a pound every two weeks). I can't reiterate enough how much this place kills Starbucks. The service -- Rick, the owner, personally crafts your drink -- is top notch. The product puts the 'laughter' in slaughtering the burnt bean Bucks prides itself on. Please do yourself a favor and go try a cup or two right now.

"Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks." That's the sign hung behind the counter of this coffee shop/café on Park Ave because this family owned business truly believes in their products. Palmano's sells house- roasted coffee, espresso, Italian inspired foods, and dessert items... with a side of authenticity. I enjoyed the feeling that this café truly cares about their coffee and the service their customers receive. The inside area is fairly small but their outside Piazza is large and a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a beverage of your choice. Even the red and white checkered tablecloths added to their local, family-centered theme. The fountain and free Wi-Fi access is also a treat to patrons.

Best coffee around - hands down. Palmano's is very comfortable; great coffee; really good breakfasts and wraps/paninis and salads. Not as sterile as some places. They have a nice Bellini gift package with the original Bellini mix for $20 also.

Palmano.. good shop.. and a good man behind the name. we checked this place out after an early flight into orlando and figured this coffee shop would be open. it was quite adorable. the bfast menu is lacking, but it's more just a cafe than anything else. the breakfast sandwich was ok according to my bro, my sister had the bfast sandwich on rye and seemed to enjoy it, i had an italian egg sandwich wrap, which was tasty, but really heavy and i only ate half of it. my other sister had the spinach quiche, which was unfortunately under seasoned and dry, and she only had about 1 bite before she tossed it. the espresso was all pretty good, and my soy latte was made well. it's pretty charming, and the patrons who did walk in while we were there were all business men regulars with their commuter mugs who knew the baristas names... so that gains points in my head. also, randomly met mr. palmano himself only because i recognized his face on the coffee labels when he was walking around and chatting with regulars. he seemed attentive and you could almost sense he liked coming into work and smiling. all in all. mr. palmano has quite a fine little coffee shop.

Right off the plane from a 6 a.m. redeye, we drove into Winter Park to grab breakfast. The teenage coffee girl may have needed my latte more than I did. I wanted to chow on my dry, unseasoned quiche, chug my lukewarm latte, and get out of there. Palmano's seems to have a fantastic wine selection, nice lunch options, and a welcoming piazza in the back to hang out. I hope it was just a bad day.

They moved, but just to the front of the building. Had a terrific sandwich several months ago at Palmano's... with grilled veggies. It's called the Rosa, and I didn't even go there for lunch but the description grabbed me. Good coffee also. The courtyard behind Park Ave is still theirs too, but the cafe is now streetside, right next to the cigar store. (Didn't care for the cigar aroma when we sat in their streetside tables.) Yesterday, had some fabulous gelato. Smooth, not too sweet. Tried my companion's mango, but the dark chocolate was my choice. If you hit the farmer's market on Saturday, take a walk just half a block south on Park and have coffee or lunch. Mmm.

I visit Palmano's almost weekly for coffee or wine and to meet with business clients. This is in a great location on Park Ave, and they offer excellent service and indoor/outdoor seating. The salads I've tried are good but I typically stop in for coffee rather than to eat.

I am a huge fan of coffee shops and love spending afternoons sipping some fresh brew and reading a book. Not only do I go for the coffee, but also the relaxed, comfortable, laid back atmosphere you often find in a coffee house. After hearing about how awesome Palmano's was from some friends of mine, I was uber excited to check this place out for myself. I really, really wanted to like this place because it sits along Park Ave, which is one of my favorite areas and it's close to my job. Unfortunately, I was disappointed not only by the coffee, but by the food, the cafe and the associates. Upon entering Palmano's I fell in love with the homey decor and old-time feel of the place. It reminded of the kind of shop you often see in older movies...with older people meeting up and having their daily coffee. The store attendant, however, did not greet us or even acknowledge our presence and there was no one else inside. It wasn't until we let her know that we were ready to order that she actually looked at us. I'm a big stickler about customer service and having worked in a coffee shop for five years myself, it's a common courtesy to greet everyone who walks in unless you're uber busy...in that case you wait until they make it to the front of the line. Their menu was typical for a coffee shop, featuring several different espresso drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, mochas and teas, as well as freshly brewed coffee...or so they claim. Not one for specialty drinks, I stuck with a small cup of coffee with just a touch of low fat milk and 3 splendas (I know it's not good for you but I can't help it), while my friends ordered their version of a frappicino, iced mocha and chai tea latte over ice...and a chocolate chip cookie. I was very unimpressed by their coffee, it tasted as if it had been brewed much earlier in the day and the flavor just didn't do it for me. The iced mocha was not sweet at all and had way too much milk and not enough espresso. The chai was okay, but the frappicino (a blended coffee beverage) was all ice and no taste. The cookie was pretty tasty and probably the best part about our visit. There are a few places to sit inside, with much more seating outside, but in the summer that clearly is not always pleasant. As I mentioned earlier, the feel for this place is very old-time. A majority of the decor and structure is wooden, with pictures, posters and trinkets scattered throughout. The coffee and espresso are roasted on site. Overall, I'm not a fan and have experienced coffee shops that I like much better than this one. However, you be the judge...what do you think?

Family owned and operated, Palmano's is located just off Park Ave, behind Shou'ture and Cigarz--just follow the little breezeway to the open piazza to find Palmano's tucked away in the back right corner. Specializing in fresh ground coffee, simple breakfast treats, and light lunch affairs almost everything is made to order. Palmano's serves Friday night dinner on the patio, and the special is always authentic Italian deliciousness served with the best Italian wines. The flat bread pizzas, made with a flax seed crust and smothered in cheese and toppings, are perfect for kids and light bites. The menu isn't as extensive as those chain restaurants, but with everything made fresh, Palmano's always satisfies.

Best cappuccino in Winter Park. Seriously. They froth the milk perfectly every time. Ok, so the brunch menu could use some work, and nobody really wants to pay $8 for a small sandwich, yeah that's not the greatest, but they do make up for that with the coffee. The location is really nice, tucked away behind Cigarz on Park Ave. They have a nice quiet little patio area with a fountain for relaxing. Looking for gelato? Of course you are. They have a very decent gelato. A good variety of flavors to choose from and seemingly fresh. Overall it's a pretty good place. We don't really have too many of these little coffee houses to choose from, so I give it a thumbs up and a meh. Give em a try at least.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
